How to ‘short-cut’ the learning curve and master any Golf Technique, in less than half the time it takes everyone else …
All learning takes place ‘inside’ the mind. It is ‘inside’ the mind that you first learn to walk and talk. It is ‘inside’ the mind you master all skills and abilities. The physical movements you make are just manifestations of skills and techniques you’ve already mastered inside your mind. The mind simply sends out electrical impulses to your muscles telling them what to do. But it is ‘inside’ your mind where all the magic happens…
To illustrate the point, do you remember the story of Major Nesmeth. He was a Vietnam veteran who was locked up for 7 years as a prisoner of war. During his time of imprisonment he ‘imagined’ playing his home 18 hole course everyday. When he eventually got rescued he broke 74 the very first time he played. The amazing thing is this was 20 strokes off his previous record. Major Nesmeth had improved his game by 20 strokes without stepping foot on a golf course for over 7 years.
The point is it is inside your mind you master all skills and abilities. It is where you learn how to putt, where you learn how to make long and powerful drives and where you learn the ‘perfect’ golf swing. This may sound obvious, but the shocking fact is you can actually learn how to play golf and become highly skilled without ever stepping foot on a golf course. The story of Major Nesmeth proves that…
Now I’m not saying this is the most effective way to learn golf. And it is not the best way to become really good at it. However, I want you to make a slight shift in perspective. I want you to realise that if you don’t currently employ any mental training techniques you are missing out on a massive advantage and playing way below your full potential.
This means that a lesser skilled golfer today could quickly rocket past you in skills and abilities. That is if they were to apply a few of the ‘hush-hush’ accelerated learning techniques revealed here…
Why this is so important
In the 1970’s and early 1980’s the Soviet Union dominated many Olympic sports. Many people thought this was because of steroids and banned drugs. It wasn’t, it was because of the unique training methods soviet scientist had discovered.
In 1979-1980 they discovered that mental conditioning is 300% more effective than physical training alone. This means that if you are already in good physical shape and have a basic grounding in the sport, then you will get 3 times more benefit from mental training than from physical training alone.
During the Olympics of the 1970’s and 1980’s the rest of the world could only stand by and watch as they lost event after event to the Russian athletes. The shocking thing is that the Russian athletes actually spent less time engaged in physical training than the rest of the field. Yet they dominated every event.
Since then sports scientists have carried out many tests to prove this point even further. Here are the results of some tests that were done in 1993 and the results are even more astounding.
Here is an overview of the results;
The results from repeated competitive encounters and follow up tests were as follows;
As you can see, for athletes already skilled in their sport, mental training is consistently more effective than physical training. This is especially true for learning. By performing some special mental training techniques you can master advanced skills and abilities in less than half the time it takes everyone else. If you rely on physical training alone you are seriously crippling your development. This is probably the single most important reason why some people are now becoming much better at golf than others.
Just stop there for a moment. All this sounds simple – because it is. But have you ever engaged in any form of mental training or conditioning to aid the development of your game. If not you are missing out on one of the simplest and most ridiculously easy ways to jump up to the next level.
Hopefully by now you are beginning to get a sense of the awesome power of mental conditioning and the power of the secrets of accelerated learning.
Think about this for a moment. You can become a much better golfer even if you spend less than half the time playing than everyone else. You can leap frog the rest of the field simply by applying these simple mental conditioning techniques.
Top Golfers are already using similar techniques today
The power of the mind is not a new concept in golf. Jack Nicklaus for example is famous for saying “First I see the ball where I want it to finish. Then there is a sort of fade out and the next scene shows me making the kind of swing that will turn previous images into reality”.
But it is an area far too often overlooked. And the exciting thing is that every year sports scientist are making more and more amazing discoveries in the fast evolving field of mental conditioning. With modern techniques you can quite literally ‘short-cut’ the entire learning process and become a golfing genius in a fraction of the time it took the old masters. Mastering the mental side of the game will also help you to immediately lock-in any golfing technique you choose – no matter how difficult!
The bottom line is you can now improve the way your mind learns to rocket past everyone else jumping up to the next level, almost overnight. The ‘secret weapon’ is of course ‘knowledge’. With this ‘secret knowledge’ you can quickly absorb new skills and abilities leaving it there lock-in until you need it.

Study Shows Improvement Over Time with Golf-Specific Exercises Prior to Swing
After completing a study with 20 golfers to determine the effects of a golf-specific warm up on club head speed, golfers are seeing an exciting difference. It seems that, with a brief warm up routine, golfers were able to increase their club head speeds by an average of 24%, as opposed to a control group, which saw virtually no change over the testing period.
The objective of the study was to prove that golfers could increase their club head speed by performing a solid warm-up routine prior to beginning their round. In order to test the theory, 10 golfers on a control team were matched with 10 golfers on a test team. Each golfer was matched for age within 2 years and handicap within 1 stroke. The golfers were initially tested with 10 golf strokes to determine their club head speed in a controlled laboratory setting.
During the first week, the test group performed this warm up exercise routine first, followed by their 10 strokes, whereas the control group simply completed their strokes. The golfers continued this routine for five times a week for five weeks. Upon completion of the study, it was found that the group of golfers performing a warm up routine had increased their club head speed by a mean, or average, of 7-10 meters per second, or about 24%.
What is the significance of this finding? Based on this study, science has begun to prove that golf requires athletic endurance and, when the proper muscles that are used to control swing and grip are warmed up before exertion, golfers have an improved game.

With so many different golf fitness programs popping up on the internet, it is difficult to know which to choose. From my perspective, here are the most important things to consider.
-Is the material provided or workout program written by someone with authority on the subject? Obviously, someone who has had experience in training a wide variety of golfers is going to have some experience to draw from. They should be a knowledgeable, experienced expert on golf fitness.
-Is the program doable and reasonable? This might sound like a silly statement until you’ve actually tried one of these programs through an internet purchase or by reading a book. If the program is too difficult or requires too much time and effort, then how is it ultimately going to benefit me?
-Will I get results that I can see with my game? Again, it is not necessary to restate the obvious, but why go through an entire program if you don’t see tangible results.
For anyone who has ever read any books outlining the basic principles of ‘how to be successful’ whether it be business, golf or life, the principles are the same. They follow along the lines of…set a specific deadline, have a detailed goal in mind, develop a plan….etc.
These are all the reasons I really love the new Golf Fitness Challenge. It is the brainchild of Susan Hill, a professional golf fitness trainer, and Craig Ballanytne, Men’s Health magazine expert. By applying the same principles to success, they have outlined a very specific 6 week golf exercise plan to get the body and game of your dreams. Last fall, they actually ran a real life case study on 20 golfers. They ran their program for both male and female golfers over a 6 week period. The age range was 18 to 65. The handicaps ranged from +3 to 31.
I bet you can guess what happened!
Given a hard deadline and some specific tasks, these golfers made some incredible discoveries and some new found improvement – just in time for prime time golf season!
Here is what a few of them had to say based on the real life testimonials.
I really got a lot more flexible. My shoulder turn improved about 30-40% at least. My hip rotation really improved also. I learned that my glutes, hip flexors, and hamstrings had a whole lot more to do with golf than I had ever imagined.
I had never viewed stretching as a way to make my body feel better and or feel more alive. I had always viewed stretching as something to warm up with. The wholeness of stretching improved my wellness feeling immensely. I just feel better now – bottom line.
Michael, Handicap 9.2, Age 62
I found my core strength improved. This was evident in my increased ability to stay stable in my lower body during the backswing and the initial transition move. I have been striking the ball more crisply.
I have experienced greater flexibility in my hip pelvis region. I am hitting the ball higher than I have in quite some time.
Thank you for including me in your program.
Stephen, Handicap 21, Age 59
